The Barge Inn is undergoing a major renovation which will give the popular Woolstone pub a whole new look and a refreshing new feel.
The pub, located on Newport road, is due to officially reopen its doors to guests on Friday 6th May, with work having commenced on Monday 14th March.
An extensive renovation will transform both the interior and exterior of the country pub. The new look will pay homage to the traditional roots and picturesque location while also offering a bright, contemporary take on a classic country pub.
Built in the early 19th century to slake the thirsts of men that built The Grand Union Canal, the Barge Inn has been a favourite amongst boaters and ramblers for many years and is a welcome reminder of the traditional surrounding of the then humble village of Little Woolstones.
When locals pay the pub a visit, they are told to keep an eye out for former landlord, Samuel Savage, as it’s been said he still visits the building and if still alive, would now be over 150 years old!
Changes include the addition of a stylish private dining area, a beautiful new garden and elegantly styled interiors. Along with a striking, original new look, the relaunched Barge Inn has introduced an all-new food offering.
In addition to lunch and dinner, the pub will now offer a brunch menu which boasts a selection of popular dishes from 9am until midday Monday to Saturday and 11.30am on Sundays.
Plus, the new dinner menu will offer delicious, freshly cooked dishes including chargrilled skewers, stonebaked pizzas, steaks and roasts! Alongside the delicious food offering, guests can also sample the extensive selection of wines, gins, craft beers and cocktails.
Following a significant investment, five new full and part time jobs have been created for the local area and the Woolstone pub is currently seeking to recruit talented new team members for both front and back of house roles.
Tomas Herrera, general manager at The Barge Inn, said: “We’re working hard to create a truly unique and stimulating experience for our guests and are so excited to unveil the new Barge Inn to the local area.
“The changes that are currently underway are all centred around creating an original country pub with a real difference. The new Barge Inn will provide both our regulars and first-time guests with an exciting location to enjoy high-quality dining in beautiful surroundings.
“Both myself and the whole team are incredibly excited to open the doors and welcome guests to experience the new Barge Inn for themselves, we hope that they love the transformation.”
