Sam Carmichael’s cool local events for October and November include pumpkin picking and a daring firewalk to raise money for Willen Hospice.

Well, that was a short-lived summer! The temperature has quickly changed, leaves have started to fall, and I’m writing this while sat in a knitted onesie.
But that does mean that we can start to prepare for some autumnal events.
Halloween is quickly approaching and what better way to mark the occasion than to pick some pumpkins at The Patch MK?
The local tourist attraction, located near Deanshanger, becomes a pumpkin patch in October each year.
Over 80,000 pumpkin seeds have been sown and there are 35 different types of pumpkins to pick. There will also be a barrel train, hay bale maze, viewing platform, house made of pumpkins, and lots of photo opportunities!
Tickets must be booked in advance at thepatchmk.co.uk.
If you’re looking to do something daring, then why not take on Willen Hospice’s firewalk on 14th October?
You’ll receive full training and then hot-foot it across four metres of burning embers.
Firewalking is all about mind over matter and developing your inner strength. It’s an opportunity to do something fulfilling while raising money for charity.
Book your spot at willen-hospice.org.uk.
There are also plenty of events at Unit Nine, MK11 and Milton Keynes Theatre in October and November.
The Theatre is welcoming the likes of Hairspray, SIX The Musical, 80s Live and even Russell Brand doing stand-up about the strange 18 months we’ve had.
Lastly, is it too early to mention Christmas?
Towards the end of November there will be festive events across MK, including grottos at the centre:mk and Bletchley Park.
People are very excited about Christmas this year so tickets for festive events are booking up really quickly.
That’s it for now. Whatever you get up to, stay safe and I’ll be back in December!
