Cranberryhome Column: How to dress your table for Christmas

Hugo Fleming, Design Director of award-winning local interior design company Cranberryhome, gives us an interiors insight into styling your table for Christmas dinner.

If it’s your turn to host Christmas this year you might be dreading all the preparation and pressure to
deliver both culinary delights and festive decorations to match.

Fear not, this insider stylist guide to your perfect table dressing will give you the confidence to put
together your best table or try something new.

If you are a traditionalist, you might be opting for the bright red, silver and white combination. Layer your plates with a soft grey linen napkin, earthy base plate and white bowls decorated with a red bauble tied with a name tag handwritten for the personal touch.

A few sticks of cinnamon tied with string or ribbon will add that festive scent and quirky touch.

For something new, try twisting the gold accents for a warm yellow accent colour this year teamed with classic black and white for that clean contemporary look.

Personalise your baubles for that personal touch from £4 on Etsy. Central table decorations are a must to
create that focal point.

Greenery is perfect for this, so use a mixture of cones, firs and even berries with elements of bark and moss for that earthy look.

Linen table runners on a dark table look great. Printing out your own menu always looks good on a dinner plate.

Consider a stylish font for the wording and style with berries that you can purchase at most homeware shops.

Slip the contrasting napkin under the plate and droop over the table to create that stylist look.

However you celebrate the festive season, it’s all about friends, family, home, scents, cosiness and relaxation. Make the most of this special time and be creative with your dining table this year.

Wishing you all the best for the season and a more focused and creative 2021 from all of us at Cranberryhome.
