centre:mk prepares to welcome back shoppers with Hamley’s and Santa’s Grotto

The brand new Santa’s Grotto with Peter Rabbit™ and friends is one of the largest in the UK.

To get visitors into the Christmas spirit, a brand new Peter Rabbit™ themed Grotto experience will sit at the heart of Middleton Hall at centre:mk, making it one of the largest grottos in the UK this year.

The grotto will launch for the centre’s reopening on Wednesday 2 December, promising festive fun for the entire family. The centre sees a brand new Christmas decoration scheme this year with seven selfie-spots lighting up centre:mk forming a festive trail.

The installations include Rudolph, a giant teddy bear and a snowman, providing visitors with the perfect Instagram moments and ensuring a small piece of normality for children at a key time of year.

Santa’s Grotto with Peter Rabbit™ and friends will offer an immersive theatrical experience brought to life by actors playing the part of Peter Rabbit™ and his friends. Guests will meet all of their favourite Beatrix Potter characters, including Squirrel Nutkin, Mr. Tod and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, before meeting Santa.

Each family will have the opportunity to spend 25 to 30 minutes enjoying the show within a safe, socially distanced environment.

centre:mk, one of the UK’s top 10 shopping centres, looks forward to welcoming back shoppers and reuniting
them with their favourite stores such as John Lewis, M&S, White Company and Lush, just in time for Christmas.

Just a stone’s throw away from the Grotto, world-renowned Hamleys will also open its first ever bricks and
mortar pop-up store at the centre, offering visitors the ultimate festive day out in December.

The British toy emporium will offer shoppers an impressive toy wonderland, brimming with games, puzzles, and arts and crafts from well-known brands such as LEGO, Barbie and Playmobil, as well as stocking Hamleys’ own exclusive toy collections.

The pop-up will feature expert toy demonstrations and exciting in-store appearances from much-loved characters, creating an engaging experience for all ages over the Christmas period.

Kevin Duffy, Centre Director, explained, “We are thrilled to be re-opening centre:mk just in time for
Christmas. Our new Peter Rabbit™ themed Grotto, one of the largest in the UK, will really get shoppers into the festive spirit.

“Christmas really is for the children and we wanted to bring something extra special to try
and make up for what has been a very difficult year for everybody.

“We are very lucky to have such a huge event space in Middleton Hall, which with the wide airy malls does make it all a little easier to ensure we can deliver that special festive spirit while making sure everyone can visit with confidence.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors back to the centre as soon as lockdown restrictions have eased to enjoy the ultimate Christmas day out at centre:mk.”

The light and airy centre continues to adhere to government guidelines with social distancing and one-way systems clearly marked out, reminding shoppers to play their part to ensure everyone can have an enjoyable shopping experience.

centre:mk also has 18 doors, making it easy for shoppers to navigate their way around as they enter and exit.

Furthermore, the surface level and smart technology multi-storey car parks provide convenience for visitors as they can park right outside their desired shops.
