MK young people’s mental health charity launch online service

A Milton Keynes-based young people’s mental health charity is offering young people or adults that support them mental health and wellbeing advice online from one of our trained volunteers via Facebook messenger during COVID 19.

YiS provide free and confidential BACP accredited counselling for young people aged 11-21 in Milton Keynes, working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, anger, recovery from abuse, relationship difficulties and many more

Although YiS are unable to accept new referrals for counselling just at the moment, they do have a team of highly-skilled, caring counsellors on hand to answer questions, share helpful wellbeing tips and to provide details of other services who can respond to anyone who is in crisis. To access this, you can message YiS via Facebook or Messenger – m.me/YiSMentalHealth

People can also signpost young people or their parents/guardians to the YIS website http://www.mkyis.org.uk and social media pages for information, advice and guidance on supporting their own or someone’s mental wellbeing.

There is regularly updated information including options to talk to someone straight away (including a helpline for parents) to make sure the information is up to date and accurate.

YiS wellbeing trainer Toni is also updating all our social media pages with daily self-care tips for young people, parents/carers and professionals working whether that is in the workplace or home, and is encouraging people to get involved and join in.
