World-renowned beauty and skin expert Nilam Holmes talks about preparing clients for the red carpet, some special celebrity visits to her Dermaspa clinic in MK and her treatment of the month.
Hi, I’m Nilam Holmes, beauty expert to the stars and owner of Dermapsa clinic.
The last month was unbelievably busy. I think I doubled my hours over the festive and new year period trying to fit everyone in.
There always seems to be something going on nowadays and things are becoming less seasonal. We are already prepping lots of people for the Brits, Globes, Oscars, Grammys and fashion weeks, as I write this.
Celebrity visitors to Dermaspa
Christmas and early January is when a lot of my celebrity clients get a little time off, so we have been prepping a few of our regular celebrity couples, like Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright and Rochelle and Marvin Humes for their holidays.
We also had a lovely visit from Vanessa Williams (of Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives), who is working on a project of her own for a little while.
Treatment of the month
This time of year seems to be the busiest for clients starting health, weight loss and body shaping plans.
Coolsculpting seems to be the most popular treatment right now. It is a medical treatment that is a non-invasive alternative to liposuction to shift stubborn fat deposits and shape the body.
The fat cells are frozen to -11 degrees and the ‘destroyed’ fat is then carried away by the body permanently.
Beauty Tip
Don’t believe everything you read. There are so many myths, magic potions and lotions that really don’t work as they claim to.
For example, some products claim to work the same as Botox and fillers. Creams and masks may help improve skin quality and appearance but will never be able to stop your muscles moving or plump the skin in the same way.
