Music reporter Vicki McCarthy picks out the legendary trance DJ’s gig at Unit Nine in February as one of three red-hot events to attend.
As we enter the shortest month of the year, I hope any January blues have faded for you. Especially as pay-day’s finally arrived after seemingly, the longest month of the year!
So with your bank account recharged, dig deep and treat yourself, by catching a gig, or two from MK’s fantastic live music events this month.
I’ve handpicked three of the best, to hopefully tempt you away from the sofa.
The Ultimate Classic Rock Show at The Stables on Thursday 13 February, £22.50 (adv)
Dust down your best rock band t-shirt and get practicing at throwing ‘devil horn hands’, as The Stables in Wavendon brings you a covers show that features loud guitars and booming anthems from music legends of the past and present.
At the Ultimate Classic Rock Show, expect to hear hits from greats such as Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and Jimi Hendrix. The gig will feature singers and musicians with an array of skills and a wealth of experience in the music industry.
They’ll recreate the biggest and best classic rock hits, with their signature energy and utmost accuracy. facebook.com/TheStablesMK
Funk Foundation at The Old George on Saturday 15 February, FREE
If funk, soul and acid jazz is more your thing, then check out The Old George in Stony Stratford this month, as it plays host to Funk Foundation on the 15th. On the night, the funktastic five-piece will be filling the dance floor, by performing hits that even a novice to the genre would know.
With a love for songs by Chic, Mary J Blige, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Incognito, Jamiroquai and Luther Vandross (to name but, a few!) you can be safely assured of a set list to please everyone in attendance. facebook.com/ FunkFoundationUK
Trance Club Classics with Judge Jules at Unit Nine on Saturday 22 February, £16.50 (adv)
Since kicking off his career in the 1980s, Judge Jules has courted success not only as a DJ, but also a producer, promoter, A&R man and radio presenter to name but a few.
As a pioneer of the club scene, Judge Jules has graced the DJ booth of many festivals and super-clubs over the years. From Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, Global Gathering and Creamfields, he’s now set to visit Unit Nine in Old Wolverton, where he’ll play the best Trance Club Classics to dance music lovers.
After a busy 2019, there’s a hunger from venues and fans for him to perform even more, so he doesn’t look like he’s planning on slowing down this year. Snap up your tickets, before they sell out! facebook.com/UnitNineMK
What an array on music on offer, with these great local Rock, Trance and Funk gigs this month. February may be the shortest month, but it’s shaping up to be one of the sweetest too.
