Music reporter Vicki McCarthy previews marvellous musical events in the lead up to Christmas Day, including one from Sick in the Head.
And so the curtain falls on 2019. This year I’ve covered everything from tribute bands, festivals, a drag act and musical theatre shows, to name a few.
It’s definitely been a busy year for MK’s fantastic live music scene.
As we edge closer to Christmas, there’s plenty of great events still to come. So I’ve rounded up my picks for December, and there’s something for everyone.
Piano and Prosecco at The Blossom Room, every Tuesday, FREE ENTRY
A new addition to The Hub, The Blossom Room has recently opened its doors to the waiting public. Offering a variety of cocktails, an enticing food menu and DJ nights, the venue has also launched its new Piano and Prosecco nights.
Doing exactly what it says on the tin, every Tuesday evening, you’re invited to sit back, relax and unwind in the classy surroundings.
All while enjoying the gentle tinkle of the ivories, over a crisp flute of Prosecco. And what’s better than a glass of bubbles?
TWO glasses of bubbles! As it’s two for the price of one, all night on a Tuesday. (facebook.com/ BlossomRoomMK)

With a fantastically festive name, acoustic duo Little White Lights will be providing some Christmas spirit at their gig this month.
Playing at The Coachmaker’s Arms in Newport Pagnell, you can expect a mixture of tunes to celebrate the season, as the talented twosome perform original songs, and cover versions ranging from Kodaline, to Fleetwood Mac, to The Bee Gees.

Sick in the Head’s Xmas party at Midsummer Tap on Tuesday 24 December, £3 (doors)
Sick in the Head promotions is back, bringing its brand of party nights to the former Slug and Lettuce site, now refurbished and renamed Midsummer Tap.
Taking place on Christmas Eve, there’ll be an evening of acoustic entertainment, followed by bands and DJs too!
With local musician Rory O’Kane already confirmed, there are many more being added to this bumper bill, ensuring that Christmas is seen in with style.
To further sweeten this deal, there’s a free shot of Jägermeister (whilst stocks last!) to ensure you have a very merry Christmas. (facebook.com/ TheNotSoBigGig)
So that’s this year done. It’s been a real treat, with twelve months of amazing live music events. I’m already looking forward to what 2020 will bring. Maybe catch you at a future gig, as we support the local music scene.
