Al’s Pals seeking volunteers to support cancer patients in Milton Keynes.
Al’s Pals is a brand new service offered to all cancer patients in the new Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Al’s Pals, a registered charity, was named after Milton Keynes cancer patient Alan Dumbell, who received ongoing cancer treatment at MKUH.
Alan noticed that throughout his treatment, as much as he was surrounded by his loving family, he still felt lonely and lost at times and often discussed the need for a buddy to support him.
It was his wish to have a cancer buddy scheme like this and, thanks to the passion of his daughter Suzanne Brown of Browns Tree Solutions and help from Macmillan Cancer Support and MKUH, Al’s Pals was born.
Al’s Pals is currently looking for volunteers to provide support in the Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes Hospital. Volunteers will offer support, companionship and a listening ear to any cancer patient.
Ideally volunteers would have experienced cancer in some way, either themselves or by supporting a friend or loved one. If you would like to volunteer, donate, or if you feel you could benefit from this service, contact Al’s Pals.
