The community is invited to join Whitespace Yoga and Wellbeing Studio in Stony Stratford for a fundraising film night to help raise money for MK Winter Night Shelter.
The fundraising film night is set to take place on December 6th. The event has become a festive tradition for the wellbeing studio, returning for a fourth year with a family favourite, Elf.
Guests and children aged 8 and over are invited to cosy up in the candle-lit studio at 7.30pm for a screening of Elf, complete with mince pies and mulled wine for the adults. All the proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the MK Winter Night Shelter with a minimum donation of £10, or £5 for kids.
The MK Winter Night Shelter provides homeless and vulnerable people with supervised overnight accommodation and meals during the coldest months of the year. Last Winter (2018 – 2019) 4,864 meals were served, 114 people were accommodated, and 2,432 beds were occupied across 14 different venues in Milton Keynes.
In addition to the festive film night, from 18th November until 8th December, the yoga studio will be collecting essential items to donate to help the homeless shelter residents keep warm this winter. The MK Winter Night Shelter has specifically asked for hoodies, joggers, thermals, underwear, socks, hats, gloves and scarves. These items can be dropped off in the studio reception and will be donated to the Shelter.
The studio can be found at 5 St Pauls Court in Stony Stratford and is open from 9.15am until 9pm Monday – Thursday until 7pm on Friday and from 8.15am until 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Deborah Berryman, Founder and Director of Whitespace Studio comments: “The homeless are the most affected during the colder months as they struggle to keep warm and are without the things we often take for granted. We are proud to have helped raise money and essential donations for the MK Winter Night Shelter for over 4 years and we welcome friends, families and colleagues to join us this year and help those less fortunate.”
Berryman continues: “We feel, as a community, it is really important to help those in need and hope that local people can make a small gesture by buying something for the homeless when they are out shopping for Christmas gifts.”
