Cool Events Column: “Cracking cheese, Gromit!”

Our resident social butterfly Sarah Bygrave has picked out her top local events to attend in September, with dance, poetry and cheese festivals all earning a mention…

I hope you all had a brilliant summer and got out and enjoyed all the weird and wonderful events on offer in and around MK.

But just because autumn is approaching it doesn’t mean we have to retreat and hibernate, there are still so many great events to come in the coming months! Here are my top picks for September.

If like me you love cheese then nothing sounds better than CheeseFest UK. The event held at the Marshall Arena on the 7th will showcase over 140 different types of artisan cheese, live cooking demos, street food and a cheese market.

Plus there will be live music, lots of entertainment on offer and also lots of celebrations of Wallace and Gromit as the ultimate cheese lovers celebrate their 30th anniversary. Head to to get your tickets.

If dance is more your thing then I have the perfect event for you! Hosted at Jurys Inn and Romeo Dance Academy between the 13th and 15th the brand new MK Latin Dance Festival looks set to be quite the event.

There will be over 30 different dance workshops, live music and entertainment, a whole host of DJs and the chance to learn the dance moves you have always dreamed of!

Shimmy on over to for more information.

Another day and another fantastic festival! Between the 18th and 22nd MK Gallery is hosting LitFest, a bumper festival celebrating poetry, spoken word and all things wordsmithery.

There will be writers workshops and plenty of likeminded people to share book reviews with. Visit mklitfest. org for tickets and more information.

Finally, a tribute to one of the greatest musicians is coming to The Craufurd Arms on the 28th.

Prince Tribute Endorphinmachine will be putting on a spectacular show, covering all of Prince’s greatest hits and embodying his unique performance style.

Tickets can be purchased from and I will see you there!
