Hazel Roberts takes us through the best food festivals and street food that MK has to offer our tastebuds this month…
As we enter summer, Milton Keynes comes alive with food and drink events.
This month, enjoy plenty of street food, Big Lunches and food festivals. Kicking off the street food this month is The Kings Feast at the Kings Arms, Newport Pagnell on 1st June, running from 12-5pm.
The next day, 2nd June, the Sunday Street Food Session is back at Milton Keynes Pavilion from 12 until 5pm.
Then Eat Street MK returns to York House, Stony Stratford on 7th June from 5-10pm. Newport Pagnell Street Food Friday is on 21st June, from 5 until 9pm as usual.
Then to round off the month of street food events is Street Food Heaven at MK11 on 30th June, 12-5pm.
June is also the month for Big Lunch Events so look out for these locally. Catch the Stony Stratford Big Lunch and the Leighton Buzzard Big Lunch Food Festival on 2nd June.
Talking of food festivals, there are some great local festivals this month. A short hop out of Milton Keynes, the Towcester Food Festival is a fabulous celebration of artisan food and drink, boasting up to 100 food and drink producers, chefs’ demos, tastings, live music, workshops and talks.
It runs 8-9th June 10am until 6pm Saturday and 10am until 5pm Sunday.
On 15th June, Olney will be holding their annual Cherry Fair. This will run from 12-4pm and will include various stalls and activities, including, of course, some cherries.
The Big Food Festival returns to Emerson Valley Sports Pavilion on 22nd June. This is another great opportunity to enjoy street food and to shop from artisan producers. It will run from 12-7.30pm and is supporting Willen Hospice.
