Cool Events Column: Assemble at the MK Comic Con

Ex-BBC entertainment writer Sarah Bygrave has picked out MK’s very own Film and Comic Con, a Bike Show, a new comedy show and a tattoo festival with over 200 artists…

We’re half way through 2019 already and, with summer just around the corner, I’m so excited for all the great things coming up over the next few weeks! Here are some awesome events for you to enjoy this June.

Calling all Avengers aficionados and self proclaimed movie geeks! If you have always dreamed of heading to Comic Con in San Diego then fear not.

MK is hosting its very own Film and Comic Con on the 9th at Milton Keynes Theatre. There will be stalls showcasing and selling merchandise and plenty of entertainment for you to enjoy.

Why not get your cosplay costume out and get stuck in! Tickets for the event can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.

Stand-up comedian and prolific storyteller Shappi Khorsandi brings her show Skittish Warrior, Confessions of a Club Comic to The Stables on the 15th.

Shappi, who is a regular performer on Live at the Apollo and even completed a stint in the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, is known for her sharp wit and hilarious one liners.

This warts and all performance will dip into Shappi’s rise to fame and also have plenty of cultural observations for your enjoyment. Tickets can be found at stables.org.

If you are more of a speed demon than a stand-up comedy fan, why not head to the MK Bike Show on the 23rd.

Held at the Stadium MK, there will be loads of bike clubs, riders, stalls and of course, plenty of bikes for you to admire. Find the event on Facebook for more information!

Finally, the UK Tattoo Fest is heading to the Marshall Arena on the 15th and 16th. Over 200 top tattoo artists will be on hand to display their work and inspire your next unique piece of body art.

There will also be lots of entertainment, stalls, a stunt show and plenty of food and drink! Tickets are available at uktattoofest.co.uk.
