1Life’s Fitness Festival helps people beat the January blues

Woughton Leisure Centre event encourages a healthy mind and body

February fact – 65% of people who made a New Year’s resolution last month based it around physical health and fitness.

But this year, 1Life MK is championing the importance of putting your physical AND mental health first, having kicked off 2019 with its ‘RED January’ Fitness Festival.

RED January is a local community initiative partnered with Mind that encourages people to do something active every day to beat the January (and often February) blues.

Research has shown that exercise can help increase feel-good endorphins, mental alertness and improve your quality of life.

Woughton Leisure Centre, which has won awards for its excellent group exercise classes and facilities, opened its doors for 2 days of free activities, including group ex classics such as BODYPUMP and the immersive cycling THE TRIP, as well as fun BORN TO MOVE classes for kids.

Over 1,000 people attended the free event, all motivating each other and raising funds for Mind BLMK, which provides mental health support in the local community.

People can continue to show their support and donate by texting £1, £2, £5, or £10 with the code MKFF50 to 70070.

1Life MK is offering you a FREE personal health check with its new ‘inBody’machine The machine gives you a full body scan and analytics in 45 seconds. Call us on 07747 271825 or email smwoughton@1life.co.uk and quote ‘Celebrate: MK’
