Ginger Mum Column: Help ‘Mad About Harry’ with his battle

Local lifestyle blogger Ginger Mum talks about how you can help raise money to change a life for the better…

Hello February, the month of love and with that in mind I’d like to kick off this column talking about how you guys can help share some love and change a life.

Harry Banks, a 10-year0-old Milton Keynes boy who has been battling cancer for the last four years has unfortunately been hit with a neuroblastoma relapse to the Central Nervous System and he had to have an emergency operation to remove a tumour from his brain.

Neuroblastoma has one of the lowest survival rates of all childhood cancers, and a CNS relapse is so rare – it’s the worst.

Mad About Harry aims to raise the £500,000 Harry needs for a ground-breaking trial at MSK in New York or in Barcelona. The NHS has been fabulous with the care and treatment they have been able to provide for Harry so far but he is now in unknown NHS waters and this privately funded treatment is the only lifeline available.

Please spare £1 or whatever you can by going to to donate.

On to less heart breaking stuff but staying on the subject of children, February half term is imminent – what?

Haven’t they just gone back after Christmas?

Frosts have it covered again with workshops covering mini beast hunting, bird box painting (anyone seen Bird Box on Netflix by the way? Eeeek!) not to mention interactive story time and crafting.

I love how easy they make it to entertain the kids with family fun at a fair cost. I can’t wait until it’s time to stock up on spring flowers from Frosts and get ready for my favourite time of year – bring on another heatwave?

Most people I know mark Valentine’s Day in some way or other and I will be treating my hubby to a dinner date in Milton Keynes.

I will be wearing this gorgeous frock I found in John Lewis in centremk, which will be great for the evening, then ideal for wearing for work either with a heel or dressed right down with trainers. Talk about versatile!

See you guys in March – don’t forget to pop over for a chat on Instagram!
