Arts Correspondent Nancy Stevens previews The Rocky Horror Show, which is making its way to MK Theatre in February…
It’s just a jump to the left and a step to the right for Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical.
The Rocky Horror Show returns to Milton Keynes Theatre on 4-9th February, part of a sell-out worldwide tour, having been seen by over 30 million theatregoers and I’ll be donning drag for at least the sixth time!
This cult classic musical extravaganza stars Strictly Come Dancing Winner and Flashdance star, Joanne Clifton and her co-star, Eugenius writer, Ben Adams formerly of A1, Comedian Dom Jolly as The Narrator and West End star, Stephen Webb, as Frank.
Kristian Lavercombe will also be reprising his role as Riff Raff, following more than 1,300 performances in The Rocky Horror Show around the world.
Directed by Christopher Luscombe and featuring timeless classics including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp, Rocky Horror (as it’s known) is the story of two squeaky-clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet.
When, by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion while on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter. Suspend disbelief – expect much heckling and prepare for the sight of men in stockings.
Listen to Nancy Stevens’ award winning local arts show on Secklow Sounds 105.5FM on Sunday nights from 6pm-8pm. Listen again at spreaker.com/show/stevens-on-sunday.
