Happy New Year! They say ‘new year, new habits’, so now is the best time to start a new habit because everyone is doing it!
Let me share with you a few steps you can introduce in your daily routine for healthy, glowy skin…
1) Eat more alkaline food over acidic foods: A few examples: choose grapes, kiwi, apples, mango, grapefruit or lemon instead of berries, bananas, prunes or processed fruit juices.
Use maple syrup or stevia instead of white/ brown sugar; also have some buttermilk, goat’s milk, goat’s cheese instead of eggs, mayo, butter, whole milk or margarine.
Last but not least, drink more ginger tea, green tea, herbal teas, lemon water and still mineral water instead of beer, energy drinks, wine, fizzy drinks, flavoured water or coffee.
Eat green fresh veg daily, if possible. This step is essential if you have any skin problems like acne, dry skin, rosacea or eczema.
2) Wash your face every evening: An essential step for healthy glowing skin is cleansing your face every evening, whether you wear makeup or not.
I strongly recommend double cleansing, meaning removing makeup and washing your face. I love L’Oreal Bi-Phase Micellar Water and Clinique 2in1 Cleansing Micellar Gel or Beauty Pie JapanFusion Cleanser.
3) Wear SPF every day: We have access to so many SPF products, choose one and use it every morning. To make your decision easier, my current favourites are Frezyderm Sun Screen Velvet SPF 50 products, coloured or clear, it’s your choice.
Both have very high protection UVB-UVA-VIS-IR velvety mattifying texture, soft touch feeling and are water-resistant.
4) Introduce in your routine one or two exfoliants (physical and chemical): The skin is renewing itself almost every four weeks, so we need to get rid of dead cells from its surface.
Either a mild scrub, a cloth, a Foreo device, or one of them and an exfoliant serum like glycolic acid. Start with Pixi Glow Tonic or Glycolic Acid from The Inkey List applied twice a week in the evenings, on clean skin.
