House to Home Column: Create your own workshop wonders

Interiors-obsessed blogger Becky Pink shows off her homemade decorations, through the use of workshops around MK.

Now it’s cold outside, I love nothing more than cosying up in my house. Out come the blankets and candles, and I hunker down for winter.

Though I do love getting my hygge on, I do feel the need for seasonal decorations to cheer myself up. This is the perfect time to book on some creative workshops to help decorate your home – and workshops also make a great gift.

Milton Keynes has some very talented makers who are running workshops to help you make something gorgeous for your home.

Origami Est has workshops at Southwood Stores in Swanbourne in November and December, to make origami accordions or Christmas Stars out of pretty paper.

I’ve been to two of Esther’s origami workshops before and loved them both, so can highly recommend them.

White Light Ceramics is also holding a workshop at Southwood Stores, where she will teach you to make your own porcelain Christmas decorations.

Slightly further afield in Ampthill, you could try your hand (and arms) at arm knitting and make your own super snug throw. I went last year and loved how quick and easy it was.

There are all sorts of workshops going on there in November and December, including screen printing by Flat 102, where you can print your own Christmas stocking or Santa sack, and wreath workshops.

Last year I made my first proper Christmas wreath at a workshop run by Jemma from The Country Flower Company in Woburn Sands. I was thrilled with the result and will definitely be doing another workshop this year.

Prefer to buy your decorations, rather than make them yourself? Don’t forget to check out the Etsy MK Made Local makers fair at intu Milton Keynes on the 1st December.
