MK fashionista SoCal Val has been inspired by Cate Blanchett in Ocean’s 8, with her use of different materials and textures…
Get ready to FALL in love with fashion!
Wait… does that pun work over here? Probably not, as you lovely Brits call this season “autumn”.
The point I’m trying to make is that it’s FINALLY time to start implementing some fabulous new accessories and prints into your wardrobe.
Today’s look is inspired by Cate Blanchett’s latest role in ‘Ocean’s 8’. Her ensembles in the film conveyed a sort of glam, rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Think Keith Richards meets Florence Welch!
Layered necklaces, androgynous ties and LOTS of leopard! The ultimate print for your inner wild child.
Kate Moss is also an inspiration here as leopard print is something she treats as a neutral. I recommend googling her infamous 1990s street style looks.
She has this sort of unkempt, club kid thing about her that is effortlessly chic. I personally prefer a bit more polish, but it’s really fun to put your own twist on what style icons are wearing.
It’s also important to never copy a look from head to toe. Challenge yourself to include your signature touches whenever possible. Now back to the other Cate!
What I loved about her style in the film was her unapologetic approach to piling on the accessories. I echoed that sentiment in this carefully curated outfit, which features different materials and textures.
The snakeskin bag, jewelled strap and leather and gold jewellery all work together because of the same tones in colour. A strong red lipstick and nail colour were my final touches.
There is a quote/rule by Coco Chanel that urges us to “take one accessory off before leaving the house”…but with all due respect to the queen, this rule doesn’t apply here.
In fact, I applaud you for adding one MORE accessory before you leave the house!
As long as you feel powerful in the look you create, anyone else’s rules and opinions should go out the window.
Rock on, fashionistas!
