Makeup Matters Column: Becky’s fab four makeup tips

Makeup expert Becky Eaglen, who works for Dior Backstage in MK, offers four professional makeup tips to help you look your best…

I’ve been working in the makeup industry for 9 years so here are some top tips I’ve picked up along the way to help you with your makeup choices and routine…

1) Don’t let price tags fool you

You don’t always have to go for the higher end of the price range to get the best product for the job. Dior’s new Backstage Pro range is perfect for getting the most for your money, which includes a face and body foundation and pallets for the eyes, face and lips.

2) Make use of the colours you don’t use in lipstick pallets

We always have our favourite shades when it comes to pallets, but there are always one or two that we never end up using.

To make the most of your lipstick pallets you can use these colours as bases for eyeshadows. Or you can use them as cream blushers to add a gorgeous natural flush to the cheeks, simply by applying a small amount with your ring finger and gently melting the colour into the skin.

3) Contour and highlighter pallets, when one shade is too dark or too light

In your contour pallet, for the shade(s) that are too dark for shaping the face, consider using them to colour in your brows, as a transition shade for your eyeshadows or as a wash of colour over the eyes.

Next, for that highlighter that you never use. If you dampen a small angular eye shadow brush, you can use the colour as a liner along the top of your eye lid to frame your lashes.

Or you can use your finger to apply the colour across the base of the eyelid for a quick wash of colour.

4) Be bold, be daring, be confident

You are strong and beautiful, and makeup is just enhancing that. Don’t be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone, experiment with colour and undertones, you may just surprise yourself.
