Legends of ice hockey come together for the UK’s first ever PUCKAID

Hundreds of people attended the celebrity-packed charity PUCKAID last weekend, in support of youth focused charity Sports Traider.

Held at MK’s Planet Ice arena, PUCKAID brought together ice hockey legends of the past and present to join forces in a thrilling match of North V South. In an end to end match, the South won 12 to 8.

The night was held for Sports Traider, who are a youth-focused charity, providing disabled and underprivileged youngsters with kit and support they need

The entertaining match followed an afternoon of performances included five figure skaters from the International School Of Skating, Sledge Hockey, performance by singers Wordz, junior game by MK Storm, Mascot Dance Off (of which Pucky won), music by Franklin Lake will be performing and the final match Faceoff.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr David Hopkins, helped start the game off and was joined by Sports Traider founder, Lance Haggith.

He said: “I am overwhelmed by the level of support people have given to the event. Sports Traider helps people across the UK that are less fortunate than most and offers them a positive path through sports, and events like this help hugely to raise awareness and important funds to keep the charity growing.”

PUCKAID raised over £20,000, which will be used to buy sports equipment and fund projects for the Sports Traider.

The charity supports youngsters to discover and fulfil they’re sporting ambition and potential, whatever their background, ability or disability and were the first to establish a chain of charity shops in the UK that specialise in sports kit and equipment.

Their aim is to make clothing and sport equipment affordable to all, and at the same time generate a sustainable source of funding to help disadvantaged young people participate in sport.

All money raised will go directly to the Sports Trainer charity that will go a long way in helping kids get into sport where they may never have got the chance which includes getting on the ice.
