Premier local salon group Seckingtons are set to face an ultimate challenge for charity, as they take on the 5k Rough Runner assault course in Chipping Norton.
As part of Aveda’s Earth Month, Seckingtons of Northampton and Milton Keynes will take on the Oxfordshire course on Sunday May 20th at noon, and will be facing a survival of the fittest scenario on an obstacle course likened to TV shows like Takeshi’s Castle and It’s a Knock Out.
The charity is aiming to raise £2,000 for WaterAid UK, and the entire team are currently in training to brave the elements, running, climbing and jumping through mud, water and cross-country to complete their challenge.
Owner of Seckingtons, Johnny Seckington decided to encourage the team to take on Rough Runner as a part of their Salon Fit program.
The program promotes a healthy lifestyle for all who work for the salon group along with teaching the significance of self-care.
The idea behind Salon Active is to promote health, fitness and wellbeing as a part of the Seckingtons lifestyle.
On the day of Rough Runner, the team will be joined by family, friends and clients a like, who will be there to show their support and donate their hard-earned cash to WaterAid UK. Seckingtons believe that everyone is entitled to clean water as a basic right and so their aim is to raise as much money as possible to really make a difference to those in the third world who are less fortunate than themselves.
With the help of social media, allowing followers keep up to date with what is happening online. Through generous donations from clients, sponsorship forms, a text number to give and a Justgiving page, the team are hoping to raise a massive £2,000.
In 2016 the Seckingtons team were the biggest fundraisers for AVEDA in the country and they do not intend to rest on their laurels and give up that title. Ahead of the challenge, Johnny Seckington is excited to get going.
He said, “I am so proud of all of the team. Last year our Iron Run course was the toughest challenge that we have ever taken on by far and we wanted to build on that. Rough Runner looks tough but a lot of fun.
“This will be the biggest team building activity we’ve undertaken to date, so we are happy that we chose to do this as a part of our Salon Fit program. Here at Seckingtons, our business is about people and that begins with the staff. A happy and healthy team create a thriving business.
“We also want to raise as much money for WaterAid UK as possible to ensure that we can help people in the third world. Clean water is a basic right, one we take for granted. Here at Seckingtons we believe in making a difference, which is why we have set our target so high. It’s a challenge but we’re determined to smash it!”
The team are now on a mission to collect cash to help WaterAid in their quest to provide clean, safe water to people in the third world.
