Elli Garnett reviews the new Tanning Shop at 12th Street in Central Milton Keynes.
It’s always at this time of year that I start thinking about getting a tan, so that I’m ready to switch to my summer wardrobe.
I booked a course of sessions at the new Tanning Shop in the Theatre District, or 12th Street as it is now known, to put a bit of colour on my pale skin and give me a welcome Vitamin D boost after these chilly last few months.
I have tried and tested loads of shops over the years – including a couple of branches of Tanning Shop as it’s the biggest tanning chain in the UK – but nothing compares to the amazing variety of beds at the 12th Street store.
On my first visit, the friendly staff recommended me to try the Ergoline Sun Angel. This machine uses sensor technology to make your experience unique and ensures you get a full, natural, all over tan.
You get to relax for 20 minutes, listen to music and drift away to that sun lounger on the beach!
The tan I got from this was the perfect base to start with.
On my next visit, I opted for a standard 8 minute lay down. This time I tried the KBL 7900 sun bed, which offers 3 types of tanning – Standard, Mediterranean or Caribbean.
This machine is equipped with P2 Pigment tubes, which work alongside the conventional UV technology to stimulate the production of Vitamin D3.
I chose the Mediterranean setting for an all over tanning experience and, again, it felt amazing.
Often when I leave a sun bed shop I am hot, flustered and red. But this bed has a setting which, as well as the air con, sprays fresh water mist on you throughout your session to keep you cool and fresh.
There are a variety of both stand up and lay down sun beds at the 12th Street store – including the only KBL 8000 in MK – as well as a spray tanning machine.
Other things I like are that Tanning Shop focuses on responsible tanning solutions, and that you can book online.
