Cara Lee previews the hottest theatre shows in Milton Keynes in April.
You Can’t Stop the Beat at MK Theatre this month, as the vibrant musical comedy Hairspray returns to Milton Keynes from April 9th to the 14th.
Based on the smash hit musical, which shares its story with the 1988 and 2007 films, it tells the tale of the eternally optimistic Tracy Turnblad, her dreams of dancing on the Corny Collins show and her involvement in the 1960s civil rights movement.
Or, if you’re in the mood for more laughs, the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society will be attempting to perform a murder mystery production in The Play That Goes Wrong, from April 23rd to the 28th at MK Theatre.
We have a feeling that one or two things might go awry there…
Going in a completely different direction, Theatrical Niche will be performing Ibsen’s classic play A Doll’s House at Stantonbury Theatre on April 30th.
This follows their successful productions of Metamorphosis, Dr Faustus and Lady Windermere’s Fan.
Working with some of the UK’s leading mental health charities and utilising word for-word interviews, this production brings the story of repressed wife Nora Helmer to a modern-day audience.
