Cool Events column: There’s lots going on in MK this Veganuary

Ex BBC entertainment writer Sarah Bygrave has picked out a vegan event, an alternative fair, a comedy night and more for January.

It’s a brand new year and the perfect excuse to try something new, learn a new skill or tick off that New Year’s Resolution!

Here are my top picks for January in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

The Old Beams in Shenley Lodge is hosting another popular Moongazing Brush Party on the 23rd from 7pm.

Whether you are a skilled artist or just wanting to have a go at painting, this is the perfect way to relax and unwind after a hard day at work.

Grab a drink from the bar and let your inner Picasso run wild!

Canvas and materials are all included within the ticket price of £29. Visit The Old Beams website for more information.

Every Thursday in January will see MK11 serve up a delicious and varied vegan menu for everyone to enjoy.

‘Veganuary’ offers burgers, mac & cheese and gourmet sandwiches – the easy way to sample the delicacies of vegan food!

New for 2018, The Unconventional Fair comes to Stantonbury Arts & Leisure Centre on the 27th and 28th of January.

Described as ‘a mecca for all things goth, steampunk and cosplay’ and with a whole host of alternative genres, themes and items on offer, this is set to be a feast for the eyes and imagination!

Head over from 10am across the weekend.

If you’re in need of a laugh after getting back into the swing of things at work, then why not treat yourself to a night of comedy on the 19th.

Top comedian Paul Tonkinson headlines at the Red Dot Bar at Stadium MK from 8pm.

Tickets are available from comedycow.co.uk from as little as £9.50.

Finally, if keeping fit is your aim for 2018 then why not try something different to help you reach your goals?

With rock climbing events, trampoline fitness classes and the weekly Park Run across Milton Keynes and Buckingham, there has never been a better time to get out and get moving in Milton Keynes!
