Grafton Spa and Wellness is a gorgeous boutique venue

Alicia Approved column: Grafton Spa and Wellness has just won Northants Spa of the Year for the second successive year. Alicia Babaee went to try it out…

Potterspury is famous for its Super Sausage Café, but it’s not all bacon butties.

Tucked away on the pretty Wakefield Lodge Estate is Wakefield Country Courtyard, home to a farm shop, distillery, gift shops and the hidden gem that is Grafton Spa and Wellness.

I love supporting local businesses, so to discover a boutique spa so close to home is rather dreamy.

The spa is quite little but as the husband and I were just two of six visitors, it felt rather exclusive.

After checking in at reception, we went to the changing rooms to get our swimwear on and grab our towels and robes.

We were drawn straight to the hydrotherapy massage pool (pictured below), where we relaxed for a good 45 minutes.

We both lead busy lives, and have a toddler, so this was the perfect way to begin our calming spa session.

The steam room and sauna were both small but perfectly formed – as with most things at Grafton Spa – so we enjoyed unwinding in those, too.

Lunch was served on the decking. Overlooking the rapeseed fields, in the glorious sunshine, it was perfect.

Our picnic lunch (pictured below) was £20 for the two of us. The picturesque setting is what made it.

After lunch, we sunbathed on the loungers and soaked up the scenery until it was treatment time.

My facial was done by a young lady called Channelle; she was so amazing that I booked one for my mum a week later!

Anthony had his first ever pedicure, done by Charlotte, and his feet looked so good afterwards that it definitely won’t be his last.

The spa was previously a beauty salon, but owner Georgina expanded and added the spa two years ago. She’s done a brilliant job – it’s beautiful.

There’s a wide range of packages to choose from at Graftonspa.co.uk, but to give you an idea of the cost, a half-day in the spa with an afternoon tea would cost £90 per person.

You can get £10 off all spa packages by booking using the Grafton Spa and Wellness code ‘Just4You’, so why not treat yourself? Visit http://www.graftonspa.co.uk for more information.
