Award-winning Nancy Stevens previews July’s top theatre shows in Milton Keynes.
Frank Wildhorn’s Wonderland (July 17 to 22, MK Theatre) comes to Milton Keynes this month with a huge heart, a medley of magic and a whole lot of wonder.
Wonderland is an enchanting musical adaption of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
In the tradition of the best stage musicals, it boasts a catchy score full of songs including Whitney Houston’s ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go?’ and ‘This is the Moment’.
I’m very excited that brilliant leading lady Kerry Ellis, best known for playing Elphaba in the West End and Broadway productions of Wicked, stars as Alice.
TV and West End star Wendi Peters, much loved for her acclaimed portrayal of Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, will headline as Queen of Hearts alongside musical theatre favourite Dave Willetts, who has previously starred in tours of South Pacific, 42nd Street and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, as White Rabbit.
Elsewhere this month, Milton Keynes Rare Productions are proud to present Hairspray! (July 13 to 15, Stantonbury Theatre).
You can’t stop the beat in this big and bold musical about one girl’s inspiring dream to dance. The 1950s are out and change is in the air.
Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.
Ticket prices for this show are from £13 to £14. Call 01908 324466 to book your tickets.
