Crews are set to make a splash at the MK Dragon Boat Festival

Willen Lake will reverberate to the sound of beating drums this Sunday (June 25) when the MK Dragon Boat Festival 2017 takes place.

It is the 16th anniversary of the popular festival and this year’s event promises to be extra special as it ties in with the city’s MK50 celebrations.

More than 30 crews will battle it out on the water for various trophies, using boats and equipment supplied by organisers Gable Events.

Money raised from the festival will go to Age UK Milton Keynes, which helps to reduce isolation and loneliness among older people.

As well as the dragon boat racing, there will be a host of bankside entertainment including a funfair, inflatables, food stalls and even a special flypast by a Dakota aircraft – one of the most iconic aircraft in military history.
